Description

The services include preparation of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimate for the replacement of two bridges near the intersection of Middle Street and Georgetown Road (CR400) in Knox Township in northwest Columbiana County, in accordance with current ODOT design standards. The Middle Street bridge, a simple span reinforced concrete slab on gravity type concrete abutments on spread footings and the Georgetown Road bridge, a simple span reinforced concrete beams with a concrete deck on gravity abutments on spread footings. Both bridges span the Middle Branch Sandy Creek, which turns ninety degrees between structures. The primary scope of work is to replace the two structures with a single structure. Additional work includes extending the Homeworth Fabrication and Machine Shop parking area over the proposed structure, relocating any impacted utilities within conflict areas, and replacing roadway pavement in-kind. The project will maintain access to the Harvest Inn and Homeworth Fabrications and Machine Shop from the North. Access will be maintained to Scotty’s Lift Truck Services from the East. Final Design will be based on the Preliminary Engineering Report and Structure Study with the selected alternate being a 3-sided precast culvert on cast-in-place pedestal footings on 12” diameter concrete pile foundations. The structure consists of segments with a face-to-face wall distance of 20’-0” and rise of 9’-0”. This alternate is along a stream alignment with a 51’-0” radius at the bend. Also included is a 60” storm sewer pipe to be relocated under Georgetown Road (CR-400) to the east of the bridge and discharged downstream.
