Lilac Tank Repair - CP76300020 - City of Simi Valley

Site work for a water / sewer project in Simi Valley, California. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project. This project would replace the 126,000 gallon capacity Lilac Tank that has been in service since 1991. The Waterworks Facilities Assessment conducted by Carollo Engineers in 2015 recommended to fill the voids below the tank perimeter with a flowable fill material to reinforce the structure, replace the tank level gauge, replace/restore the tank sub-base confinement with a new confinement ring, and investigate and repair the two tank leaks. In addition, the Seismic Evaluation of Waterworks Storage Tanks, conducted by Kennedy Jenks Consultants in 2020, recommended to lower the water level in the tank to prevent damage from water movement during a seismic event, which would reduce capacity to 74.000 gallons. Staff recommends to construct a new 750,000 gallon welded steel tank to replace the existing tank to provide additional storage for the region, in case of emergency. Design is anticipated to be completed in May 2025 and constuction completed in March 2026. As of June 21, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2023-2027 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2022. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
