Description

The playground theme is space exploration which may include space travel, stars, planets, moons, space ships, galaxies, orbits, comets, asteroids, astronauts, or other similar themes or objects. All playground proposals must include some structures that are inclusive of persons with disabilities. There shall be at least one component of the proposed playground which serves persons with special sensory needs. Surfacing of the playground area shall be matting designed to absorb falls and impacts and may be patterned or colored in order to be consistent with the theme. Bark, sand, or other loose materials will not be accepted. Playground structures should provide for a wide range of age groups. Multiple structures may be used which are specific to certain age groups. Structures should be made of durable materials such as metal, fiberglass, or similar composite type materials. Wood structures will not be accepted. Removal of approximately 125’ of existing sidewalk (Exhibit C). The new structure will be installed at a different location then the existing structure and will require a new concrete sidewalk and additional concrete panels as per City Std. Detail ST-5. The concrete sidewalk shall be minimum 5 ft width to meet ADA requirements. All cement concrete sidewalk and panels shall be 6 sack mix having minimum 564 lbs of cement per cubic yard. The approximate cement concrete sidewalk to be installed is 125 square yards. • Ground preparation for the new structure shall be as per manufacturer requirements. Playground Illumination – Installation of LED Cobra style lights around the playground area as per Exhibit A, Contractor to submit an electrical plan for the playground illumination
