Description

The contract currently is planned to include approximately 0.2 miles of floodwall replacement on the existing Port Arthur and Vicinity Hurricane Flood Protection system. The attached map shows the current proposed extents of the work to be performed from Station 870+14.49 to 860+98.92. The scope will include demolition/removal of approximately 23,000 square feet of steel sheetpile, 40,000 vertical linear feet of piles and construction of a new floodwall within the current project easement boundary. Portions of the floodwall are located in the water therefore, construction will require close coordination with vessel traffic, port and plant operations. Construction work may occur during Hurricane season, therefore temporary flood protection will be required during this timeframe; as this project will be removing part of an existing flood protection system. The work will require all safety and security requirements of any impacted property owners’ facilities, such as a railroad and an industrial plant to be followed, in addition to all USACE safety requirements. The contract to complete this work is currently anticipated to be issued as a Design-Build requirement.
