Asbestos Abatement at Haigh Elementary School Asbestos abatement work will be performed at Haigh Elementary School located at 601 Silvery Lane, Dearborn, Michigan 48128, The project consists of the ceilings demolition and removal of asbestos containing Glue Pods under 12"xl2" Ceiling tiles located throughout the school building ceiling (hallways, classrooms, and cafeteria) located on the main floor ofHaigh elementary school. In addition a removal of 400 linear feet ofpipe insulation throughout the school tunnel, boiler restroom and fan room. The school ceilings areas to be removed are approximately 18,476 square feet. The contractor must follow procedures for removal operations stated in Section L of this specification, part 5 through 9. The removal operations will be performed inside a Mini while Full enclosure procedures for cafeteria & west, north hallways and under continuous negative air. The abatement contractor must construct a decontamination facility attached to the enclosure which will house the clean room, shower room and dirty room. The asbestos abatement operations will be considered complete when visual inspection is passed and the test results for the final air clearance samples (PCM) indicated an airborne fiber concentration value of less than < 0.01 (f/cc) Fibers per Cubic Centimeter as recommended by the EPA. With the exceptions of Cafeteria hallway, north & west hallways, a TEM final air clearance will be conducted. The Owner will pay for the initial Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) final air clearance costs. However, if the regulated area does not pass the first clearance attempt, the abatement contractor will pay all remaining air monitoring and clearance costs including but not limited to testing time, laboratory analysis (TEM), shipping & handling and project related expenses, until the project is cleared per EPA regulations. |
