Description

Improvement of two basketball courts -- one (1) basketball court rehabilitation of an existing court and constructing a second, new basketball court (proposed at a drier location near an existing court that is frequently flooded). The North Basketball Court has failed due to flooding and a new basketball court is proposed on better-draining ground not far south of the existing court. The existing court, prior to flooding, shall not be included in this project – while no improvements are anticipated the existing concrete pad is being left for picnicking. A proposed North Basketball Court system shall be comprised of a new 88’-0” x 54’-0” concrete pad which shall be located nearby on higher ground with positive drainage to Whispering Willow Lake. This new court shall have new posts, backboards, rims, and nets. The new court shall be made compliant with National Standards for Accessible Design and Illinois Accessibility Code with the inclusion of a new accessible concrete sidewalk and parking stall. The new ADA concrete parking stall shall be painted and signage installed in compliance with associated federal and state codes. The new North Basketball Court shall also receive court striping which shall comply with IHSA standards. The South Basketball Court, requiring only minor repairs and renovation of the basketball system (posts, backboards, rims, and nets), will necessitate the removal and replacement of a small segment of concrete. The South Basketball Court posts and backboards shall have paint removed, be cleaned and repainted, and receive new nets. The new court shall be made compliant with National Standards for Accessible Design and Illinois Accessibility Code with the addition of an accessible sidewalk and parking stall. A proposed ADA concrete parking stall shall be painted and signage installed in compliance with National Standards for Accessible Design and Illinois Accessibility Codes. The South Basketball Court shall also receive court striping which shall comply with IHSA standards. Both the new North Basketball Court and existing improved South Basketball Court shall receive new lighting to extend the playing time. These lights -- four (4) lights at each court, offset 2’-0” from the court’s concrete pad at each mid-court, shall be solar-powered LED fixtures mounted on aluminum poles (installed per Manufacturer’s Specifications). The new solar light fixtures will be remotely programmable and controlled (lights will be shut off when the park closes). Vendor Shall submit a separate line item Bid for providing and installation of Pole-Mounted Solar Lighting. The State reserves the right to not award Item 2 based on available funding.
