Reconstruction of Head Road

The project consists of reconstructing 270 linear feet of Head Road in unincorporated Whitfield County that has recently failed. The new roadway section will consist of two 10 ft asphalt lanes in each direction with 1 ft grassed shoulders on each side of the roadway and a concrete V-ditch on the south side of the roadway. There is also one 50 ft drainage pipe in the middle of the project with a drop inlet and a flared end section. There is approximately 320 linear feet of bared wire fence that will need to be replaced as part of the project. The geotechnical reports included in the contract also details the required remediation of the failure area that is required prior to final grading for the new roadbed. All grading, subgrade construction and the required erosion control measures will be the responsibility of the contractor. All the final asphalt final paving will be completed by Whitfield County Public Works.
