Description

As of October 16, 2023, information regarding the award and award date has not been disclosed. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The Erie County Department of Public Works - Division of Buildings and Grounds (herein also referred to as "The County") is seeking Qualification Statements for an Architectural & Engineering consultant to provide professional services related to the project described above. In general, the work will include, but is not limited to, (a) Classroom infrastructure improvements at (40) general classrooms and (1) large lecture hall at Kittinger Hall; and (3) large lecture halls at Bretschger Hall. Existing classroom and lecture room infrastructure are outdated and require improvements to support current interactive and flexible teaching approaches and intended to be modeled after the College's newest STEM Building. Upgrades will include furniture selection and fixed furnishings, interior floor, wall and ceiling finishes, interior doors, lecture room wall and ceiling acoustics, interior lighting, data/telecommunications and audiovisual infrastructure. Potential reconfiguration of existing lecture rooms and some general classrooms at Kittinger Hall for Active Learning. The (39) classrooms/labs at Bretscgher Hall in general require interior lighting and/or ceiling finish upgrade only. (b) Corridor upgrades at Kittinger Hall and Bretschger Hall. Existing lockers and other relics along the corridors are not utilized, and to be removed. Under-utilized spaces along the corridors to be converted to student lounges, and individual and small group collaborative study spaces. Upgrades will include furniture and fixed furnishings, building-wide corridor wall and ceiling finishes to improve wayfinding, accent lighting, data/telecommunications and audiovisual infrastructure. (c) Office space upgrades include conforming to accessibility guidelines, doors and door hardware, interior floor, wall and ceiling finishes, interior lighting, data/telecommunications, private office partitions and office furniture selection. (d) Review and select standard classroom, office, lounge furniture, and lecture hall fixed surface & seating; specify quantities and finishes, and coordinate with furniture manufacturers and electrical, data/telecommunications infrastructure. Classroom, office, lounge furniture and fixed surface & seating where practicable, shall be separately procured by the Owner. (e) As part of Phase 1 Pre-Design/Programming, review current innovative case studies for Active Learning and recommend appropriate Active Learning Classroom designs to support teaching and learning in an atmosphere conducive to engaging students actively in their own learning.
