Description | The project includes constructing a 5' wide concrete sidewalk within the west side of the right of way of US Route 158, North Croatan Highway, beginning on the south side of West Landing Drive and continuing southward to tie in to the existing 10' wide walk north of the entrance to the Wright Memorial, then resuming at the south end of said 10' wide walk and continuing southward to Colington Road. Incidental work includes relocation of several signs, minor swale and ditch grading/regrading and short extensions of two existing corrugated aluminum culverts under US 158. All areas shall include incidental clearing, pavement cuts/patch, reseeding and restoration, etc. As a general indication to prospective bidders of the size of the project, the approximate total length of sidewalk is 4,105 LF. All Contractors submitting bids shall possess a valid North Carolina Contractors License-- with specialty license(s) appropriate, as determined by the Town of Kill Devil Hills, to the nature of the work--and may be required to provide evidence satisfactory to the Town, in its sole judgment, of qualifications and experience sufficient for the successful accomplishment of projects of this nature and size within the time requirements set forth in the Contract Documents. A Certificate of General Liability Insurance (minimum $1,000,000.00) and Workers Compensation Insurance shall be attached to each bid submitted for consideration. Each bid shall be accompanied by a deposit equal to 5% of the net price bid. This deposit may consist of cash, or cashier check issued by or drawn on a Bank or Trust Company authorized to do business in the State of North Carolina, or a Bank insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, payable to the Town of Kill Devil Hills, or a 5% Bid Bond issued by any Insurance Company authorized to do business in North Carolina. This deposit will be retained in the event of the failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten (10) days after Notice of Award or to give satisfactory surety as required. The successful bidder must furnish a Payment and Performance and Materialman's bond on some surety company authorized to do business in the State of North Carolina for the full amount of the contract price prior to execution of contract. The bidder(s) to whom each of these Project Groups, Projects or portions thereof shall have sixtyone (61) calendar days from the date of Notice to Proceed of the contract to Substantially Complete the work; see Instructions to Bidders for Alternate provisions for Date of Substantial Completion. Other provisions as to time of Full Completion, intermediate completion requirements, Liquidated Damages, etc. are set forth in the Contract Documents. The purpose of this Notice of Bid is to make this project known to the contracting community; it is not one of the "Contract Documents" as enumerated in the General Conditions. In the event of any discrepancy between the provisions in this Notice of Bid and the provisions of any of the Contract Documents, the provisions of the Contract Document shall take precedence. The Town of Kill Devil Hills reserves the right to reject any and all bids. |
