Description

Harrison County consists of 484.5 square miles lo- cated in southern Indiana, it is primarily rural, with rolling hills and limestone outcrops, bordered by the Ohio River, three (3) other Indiana counties and one (1) Kentucky county. Harrison County currently utiliz- es an analog multi-site simulcast public safety radio system, owned by the county. The current commu- nication system provides inadequate coverage and performance. Due to the lack of coverage, first re- sponding emergency personnel have no communi- cation ability in multiple areas of Harrison County. This creates a substantial safety concern for both our personnel and our citizens. The current system has become end of life technology that is no longer supported by the manufacturer with new replace- ment components. Because of this, the County has decided to procure a new digital multi-site simulcast radio system.
