Jones Swamp Timber Harvest for Restoration

Timber Sale is one component of a land management restoration project. This timber harvest in southwest Escambia County consists of harvesting, clear-cutting, approximately 34+/- acres of mixed natural and planted slash and longleaf pine. This per unit sale, containing an estimated 1,110 tons of green pine timber that experienced a wild fire during 2018. Dead and dying trees were not tallied in this estimate but the buyer is expected to haul any dead or dying pines of merchantable size that can be handled safely. The sale boundary consists of pink ribbon, natural drains or fences. Prior to starting the harvesting operation, the buyer and/or logger will meet with the agent, Ken Oser, to review the harvesting boundaries and guidelines. The majority of the tract is upland soils and rutting should not be an issue under normal weather conditions except in select limited areas along the perimeter. For ecological and recreational purposes, rutting will be kept to a minimal and it is preferred to leave an individual pine instead of creating ruts where applicable. The tract is located off of Gulf Beach Highway in the Warrington Community of southwest Pensacola, adjacent to Waycross Avenue and is found in Sections 32 and 33, Township 2 South, Range 31 West, Escambia County, FL, see attached maps. Combination to the lock is 9-0-8-2.
