Hot-Mix Asphalt Paving - CR 616 (Alpine Road)

CR 616 (Alpine Rd), from CR 651 (Cedar Rd) east to CR 614 (Gallivan Rd) Sections 20 & 21, Solon Township, 1.28 miles: This project consists of wedging and adding 3’ HMA shoulders on both sides of the roadway. The road will be wedged with HMA paving to correct excessive quarter crown, placing 4E1 material over approximately 5-8 feet of each lane of the existing pavement. In selected areas (as painted out or directed by Road Commission staff) wedging may extend out to the centerline of the road. Wedging is assumed to be 0-3” deep. The Road Commission may choose to undercut one or more areas prior to paving. In these locations, paving will consist of placing 4E1 material at 28’ wide (2 passes at 14 ft. each) at 330 lbs/syd. These areas will be paved in 2 lifts. The first lift will be placed as a base course, flush to existing HMA. The base course will be paid for as HMA, 4E1 Base. The second lift will be placed integrally and at the same time as the HMA wedging.
