Description | THE WORK A. This project site is located at Sanborn County Park. The 57+ acre site was a former plant nursery and is part of a 3,453 acre County Park was acquired by the Santa Clara County Parks Department. After a previous owner of the plant nursery vacated the site over 20 years ago, the County has secured the site from the public until clean-up operations can take place. The site contains abandoned structures, dumped nursery materials and equipment and has contaminated soil from years of deteriorating debris. In addition, the site has an abundance of downed trees, diseased trees suffering from Sudden Oak Death, and standing dead trees (Snags). Scope of work for this project includes clearing, grubbing, stripping, demolition and removal of debris, removal of contaminated soil, import of clean topsoil, including placing, grading and compaction. Structures on the site, some on foundations, others on surface shall be removed. Many of these structures contain hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead based paints, and solvents. After removal and grading operations, the site shall be restored to a natural state, that is, graded to existing conditions and hydroseeded with a native California plant mixture. LIQUIDATED DAMAGES Liquidated Damages are associated with Substantial Completion and Final Completion. Liquidated damages are set forth in Document 00 52 00, "Agreement. BIDDER'S SECURITY A. Each Bid must be accompanied by cash, a certified or cashier's check, or a bond in the sum of not less than ten percent (10%) of the total aggregate of the Bid price, including all additive Bid items. B. The check or bond must be made payable to "The County of Santa Clara." ESTIMATED COST A. The estimated cost for the base Bid for this work is: $2,400,000.00 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. BONDS AND INSURANCE The successful Bidder must deliver signed Contract Bonds (payment bond and performance bond), and all required insurance documents to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors for acceptance before Owner will execute the Agreement and issue a Notice to Proceed with the Work PREVAILING WAGE REQUIREMENT A. Pursuant to Document 00 73 43, "Labor and Wage Rate Requirements," all workers employed in the Work are subject to payment of not less than prevailing wages under California Labor Code section 1770 et seq. The Board of Supervisors reserves the right to reject any and all Bids and to waive any errors or discrepancies in the Bids |
