Description

1. Modification of the McCoys Creek Channel to reduce flooding. 2. Installation of erosion control features, drainage structures, and landscape features (trees and vegetation). 3. Connection of all existing drainage into the new channel. 4. Remediation, where required, of identified contamination such as ash-related materials. 5. Protect adjacent structures. 6. Protect and secure the site. 7. Provide maintenance of traffic for all activities and adjacent properties. 8. Leave the final site(s) clean and functioning. The McCoys Creek Channel Improvements/Restoration Project objective is to construct a new channel to create improved drainage for the affected neighborhoods. Project features include: (1) earthwork and embankment construction, (2) site work, (3) dewatering/wet excavation work, and (4) vegetative planting. The existing channelized Creek will be re-patterned to function more like a natural floodplain with a meandering open channel. The drainage improvement project will be constructed by excavating the existing topography to create an open channel within a larger floodplain channel. The stream banks are to be constructed of vegetated reinforced soil slope (VRSS) where specified, habitat enhancements such as wetland creation are proposed for installation. In this project there are tree, understory and groundcover plantings proposed. The existing creek flow must be maintained during construction in order to prevent upstream flooding concerns.
