Description | A domestic water treatment plant was installed at the Imperial Wildlife Area in the spring of 2020. This plant must meet California water quality standards. Legal requirements include that the plant must operate under a licensed "Water Treatment Plant Operator-Grade II" or higher. Since the plant's installation, water quality standards have increased and necessitate that the plant be maintained and operated by licensed operators. The awarded Contractor will operate and maintain the plant at full legal status. Current equipment operating at the facility includes a Pure Aqua, Inc. Multistage filtration system model #0012726, multiple booster pumps, a 27,604-gallon holding tank, an emergency bypass filtration system, three settling ponds, and an enclosed cistern. Plant performance is measured by daily turbidity and residual chlorine monitoring, which is compiled on monthly summary sheets and submitted to the Imperial County Health Department for review. Since the plant has been in operation, treatment objectives have consistently been met, indicating that the plant operation and performance has been sufficient.
