Steam Pits 14 Replacement - MEP

In general, the work consists of replacement of steam pit 14 including the demolition of existing steam pit 14, the construction of new steam pit 14 and restoration of the site located at southwest corner of the intersection of Fremont Street and College Avenue. Demoliton will include removal of the existing steam pit cast in place concrete structure and portions of the cast in place concrete steam box conduits that attach on the north, south and east sides of the steam pit. Demolition will also include the removal of high pressure steam and condensate pump discharge pipe, valves, trap assemblies, expansion joints, pipe insulation and pipe supports within steam pit 14 and the connecting portions of box conduit to be removed. New construction will include a new cast in place steam pit 14 and portions of cast in place steam box conduit that were removed during demoltion. New construction will include new high pressure steam and condensate pump discharge pipe, valves, trap assemblies, expansion joints, pipe insulation and pipe supports within new steam pit 14 and the new connecting portions of box conduit to be replaced. A new sump pump with discharge pipe routed to the City storm sewer, lighting,electrical convenience receptacle will be included in the construction of new steam pit 14. Three newconduits ((1) for electric power, (1) for data, (1) for BAS) will be routed from new steam pit 14 to Nelson Hall which is located at the southeast corner of the instersection of Fremont Street and College Avenue. Eletrical power connections will be made in Nelson Hall for new steam pit 14. The data and BAS conduits are provided for future connections. The lengths of conduit routing under Fremont Street have been provided by the City’s Fremont replacement project. Surface restoration as well as replacement of a portion curb is included.
