Description

The project consists of re-paving and re-surfacing of two roads within Bartow County, specifically, Chitwood Cove (CR 276) and McKaskey Creek Road (CR 280) for their full length. Chitwood Cove is 0.7 miles long from its intersection with Wilderness Camp Road to the entrance of Upper Stamp Creek Campground, a Corps of Engineers facility on Lake Allatoona. McKaskey Creek Road is 1.6 miles long from its intersection with Spur Highway 20 to the entrance of McKaskey Creek Campground, another Corps facility on Lake Allatoona. Both roads consists of two 10-foot travel lanes with a rural cross-section using open ditches for drainage. The roads will be full depth patched by the County in damaged areas prior to resurfacing. Both roads will be maintained with existing superelevation and cross slope, applying a single layer stone size 7, group 2 only with 85 lbs/SY asphaltic concrete leveling to existing roadway full width. After applying leveling course, resurface the roadway full width with 135 lbs per square yard recycled asphaltic concrete 9.5 mm, type II superpave, GP 2 only, including bituminous material and hydrated lime for a depth of 1.25 inches. The roads will be striped per AASHTO guidelines and Hydro lime treated. The shoulders will be filled as necessary to complete the project (see attached typical road section). The Chitwood Cove project will require the relocation of a county water line to the perimeter of the existing ROW prior to resurfacing the roadway.
