Description | 1. Test and Inspections performed by the Contractor for the Fire Protection Systems listed on Line Item section in ESM Solutions as per specifications contained herein shall include but are not limited tthe following: Fire Hydrant Test and Inspection. Inquire as tthe changes in general occupancy environment, operations and conditions related tthe water-based fire protection systems. Inspect for any changes or modifications tthe water-based fire protection systems. Test riser alarm devices; report any problems. Test main drain; report any problems. Inspect gauges. Inspect valves for appropriate position, accessibility and tensure they are free of leaks. Determine if any heads are more than fifty (50) years old; report all that are more than fifty (50) years old. Determine if all areas of the wet systems are heated; report any areas that are not heated. Inspect hangers and supports, sprinkler heads and piping; report any problems. Inspect for spare sprinkler heads and proper sprinkler wrench(es); replace as needed. Inspect Fire Department connections; report any problems. Test fire pump operation under flow condition; report results of test. 5-Year Internal Inspection if none on file. 2. Inspections shall be performed in accordance with NFPA 25 and meet all state and local government codes and amendments. 3. Bidder shall submit sample reports in hard copy with their Bid response. 4. Electronics shall be coordinated thru the Foreman or Operations Manager of the NISD Maintenance Plumbing Department. 5. Scheduling of all inspection shall be made in accordance with District policy tminimize any disruption of facility operations, curriculum or activities. All scheduling shall be coordinated in advance with the facility or campus administrator or plant manager and the Maintenance Electronics Foreman or Manager. Work hours shall be 7:00 AM t3:00 PM Monday through Friday during non-instructional days (when school is not in session). Work hours shall be after 3:00 PM for Elementary schools, after 3:45 PM for Middle schools and after 4:30 for High schools during instruction days (when school is in session). Approximately ninety-five (95) percent of the Test and Inspection process will be scheduled during non-instructional days. 6. When testing and inspection of the water-based fire protection systems reveal defective parts or functions that could cause impairment of proper operation of the system, the Contractor shall notify the Foreman or Operations Manager of the Maintenance Electronics Department while still on site. Contractor shall prepare a detailed proposal describing the services and/or equipment required for needed repairs within one week of discovery. The proposal shall be submitted electronically tthe Foreman and Operations Manager of the Maintenance Electronics Department. NISD will then submit tmultiple pre-Qualified Vendors a request for quote tperform the needed repairs. 7. Bid for cost of individual Test & Inspection shall include cost of re-inspection if needed. |
