Description

As directed saw cutting of bridge approach concrete pavement and/or barrier wall, curb, and gutter for department regional crews’ installation of pressure relief joints. This contract requires the contractor to effectively and proficiently full-depth saw cut concrete roadway pavement and/or curb, gutter, and barrier wall. The saw cut(s) must be transverse to roadway (or otherwise directed by authorized the MDOT Program Manager and/or MDOT designee) by using a chalk line or other methods to achieve a straight-line cut. Installation of new PRJ’s will require the contractor to have two parallel full-depth saw cuts that will allow MDOT personnel to remove the loose concrete & install the compression joint material. In the case that a PRJ has been previously installed and has significantly compressed, the Program Manager or Designee may direct the contractor to perform a single recut parallel to the previous PRJ for replacement. The spacing between saw cuts shall be determined by the Program Manager or Designee on compression joint material. If it is determined by the Program Manager or Designee that concrete curb, gutter, or barrier wall is required for the relief joint, the contractor must perform full-depth cuts as directed. While avoiding concrete reinforcement will be ideal, it may not be possible in all cases. Therefore, the contractor must be capable of sawing such reinforcement encounters while performing work. No additional payment will be made for sawing through reinforcement. Question Deadline 03/17/2023 at 3:00 PM ET The Contractor must furnish performance and lien bonds each for not less than 100% of the total contract price
