Excavation,Removal,Backfill Of Asbestos Insulated Underground Steam & Condensate

Excavate the roadway along S. 7th Street, and intersections to assist asbestos abatement, remove pipe, and backfill. Asbestos abatement is by others and not part of this contract. Scope of Work for Steam and Condensate Piping excavation Unless otherwise noted, the Contractor will excavate the existing abandoned steam and condensate piping to allow a contracted abatement crew to access the piping to allow for the removal of existing asbestos. This work will also include removing three (3) steam manholes and three (3) valves that are within the manholes as well as all associated apparatus. The Contractor and abatement crew will work closely together to schedule and coordinate the work. The Contractor willremove the abated pipe and equipment as directed by the abatement crew. The Contractor will backfill the excavated areas to allow for temporary street restoration until the City of Manitowoc begins reconstructing S. 7 th street under a separate contract. The work must be completed on or before June 30, 2022. MPU is a municipally owned tax exempt utility; material purchased directly by Contractors for use in municipal and state public construction projects is exempt from the sales tax (SB 227). The Contractor shall familiarize itself with the nature and extent of the work, the site, the locality, and all local conditions that in any manner may affect cost, progress, performance or furnishing of the work.
