Description

The "21st Avenue and 22nd Avenue Beach Entrances" Project in the Township of Berkeley, Ocean County, New Jersey involves the installation of piles, joist supports, joists, stringers, railing, stairs, and decking at the 21st Avenue Beach Entrance in the Township of Berkeley along the Atlantic Ocean. The 22P nd Avenue beach entrance involves the installation of new timber decking, new railings along the entirety of the structure, acrylic coating of the existing concrete retaining wall and stairs, and the replacement of any compromised stringers as directed by the Township Engineer. This project is located at the 22nd Avenue Beach Entrance in the Township of Berkeley along the Atlantic Ocean. Each bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashiers check or bid bond duly executed by the bidder as principal and having as surety thereon a surety company approved by the Township Of Berkeley in an amount not less than ten percent but in no case in excess of $20,000.00 of the amount bid. Any such bid bond shall be without endorsement or conditions. Bid shall also be accompanied by a certificate letter from a surety company stating that it will provide the bidder with the completion bond. The award of the contract shall be made subject to the necessary moneys to do the work being provided by the Township Of Berkeley in a lawful manner. The contract to be executed by the successful bidder will provide that it shall not become effective until the necessary moneys to do the work have been provided by the Township Of Berkeley in a lawful manner. The award shall further be subjected to the securing of necessary State, Federal or Local permits governing the work. Bidders are required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq., N.J.A.C. 17:27 (Affirmative Action), N.J.S.A. 34:11-56.25 et seq.(New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act), and Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (42 U.S.C. S12101, et seq.). The contractor is further notified that he must comply with N.J.S.A. 52:25-24.2, and submit a Disclosure Statement listing stockholders with his bid. The contractor is further notified that he must comply with N.J.S.A. 34:11-56.48 et seq. Public Works Contractor Registration Act and he and any subcontractors must be registered in accordance with the act. The contractor is also further notified that he must comply with N.J.S.A. 52:32-44 and submit proof of business registration and submit proof of business registration for any named subcontractors in accordance with the act. The Township Of Berkeley reserves the right to consider the bids for sixty (60) days after the receipt thereof, and further reserves the right to reject any or all bids, either in whole or in part and also to waive any informality in any and make such awards or take action as may be in the best interest of the Township Of Berkeley. Bids must be on the bid form prepared by Remington and Vernick Engineers, in the manner designated therein and required by the specifications, must be enclosed in sealed envelopes bearing the name and address of the bidder on the outside and also bearing on the outside reference to the particular work bid upon. Should interested bidders not have the ability to handle electronic download sets, a set may be arranged to be sent overnight by calling 732-286-9220. No Bids Are to Be Picked Up at the Engineers Office or at the Municipality Offices. Payment Must Be Received Prior to Obtaining Said Specifications. No Bids Are to Be Dropped Off at the Engineers Office. All Bids Are to Be Delivered Prior to the Bid Opening Date and Time. 1. Mobilization complete any required permitting, and perform any necessary permanent or temporary site clearing operations required to perform the work of this project. Contractor is responsible for offsite disposal of cleared debris. 2. Removal and disposal of existing debris, structures, railings, and pilings. 3. Furnishing and installation of an elevated timber beach entrance constructed with 12 IN butt piles at locations as per construction details as outlined in the technical specification. Elevation of the structure is to match elevation as indicated on the plans. 4. All stair posts hall be set in concrete sonotubes as indicated on the plans. 5. The replacement of any compromised stringers (as approved by the Township Engineer), new decking, new railings, and an epoxy coating system in accordance with the specifications in locations indicated on the plans or as directed by the Engineer. All railings and decking shall ADA compliant and replaced in kind or as directed by the Township Engineer. All hardware required to replace any compromised stringers, wood decking, and railings are included in the various bid items. Include all costs in related items for which they are a part. 6. Furnishing and Installation of an acrylic coating system on the retaining wall and stairs located at the 22nd Avenue beach Entrance in the Township of Berkeley. The coating must be a twostep system consisting of a primer and acrylic coating. The primer shall be SIKA 552W primer or an approved equal, and the coating must be SIKAGARD 550W or an approved equal. The contractor is responsible for verifying the color of the coating with the Township Engineer and the Township of Berkeley. Any existing cracks in the wall should be filled prior to the application of the acrylic coating. 7. Cleaning and restoration the project site as per the contract documents. Any material disturbed in the construction of these bulkheads shall be replaced in kind, as per Technical Section 01710 - Cleaning and Restorations. 8. The contractor is responsible for all soil erosion and sediment control measures in accordance with the latest standards for soil erosion and sediment control in New Jersey. Completion- 90 (NINETY) CALENDAR DAYS
