| Description | The City of Philadelphia (“City”) is investigating the costs and benefits of a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Renewable Energy System and/or Plant, as defined by the PA Public Utility Commission (“PUC”), for the Commerce Department Division of Aviation’s (“Aviation”) Northeast Philadelphia Airport (“PNE”). Over the past several years, Aviation has conducted solar assessment studies that identified areas of PNE that may allow for the installation of a 1 MW or larger PV renewable energy system, while complying with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements related to siting PV systems at airports, including compliance with airport glare guidelines and airfield geometries intended to preserve the safety of operating aircraft. |
