Description | Professional engineering design services from qualified consulting engineers to prepare engineering design plans for the extension, widening, and construction of a section of State Route 2190 (Summit School Road), from its terminus section at Kinnicutt Drive on a new alignment to connect with Telegraph Road north of the Horner Road Park and Ride lot entrance, The project also includes the widening and improvement of the section of existing Telegraph Road between the new intersection with Summit School Road and the Prince William Parkway intersection for a total project length of (0.95) miles of extension, widening and improvement, as generally shown on the attached plans prepared by Sabra Wang Associates and AMT for VDOT. This Summit School Road Extension and Telegraph Road Widening sections of this project shall be designed to four (4) lanes divided facility with a sixteen (16) foot wide grass median. The project will include a five (5) foot sidewalk on one side and a ten (10) foot wide shared use path on the other side. The project shall be designed in accordance with the VDOT Road Design Manual, VDOT/PWC Functional Classification Plan and all other ongoing plans, including the County Transportation Thoroughfare Plan. Signal justification reports and warrant analyses shall be completed for all intersections, and signal design and modifications shall be completed when justified and warranted as part of this project design. The required typical cross-section will be in conformance with the County MA-1 Typical Cross Section, or GS-6 standards with raised median and pedestrian facilities along each side of the divided roadway facility. The design consultant shall evaluate and salvage all existing improvements and pavement whenever possible shall utilize all available and dedicated or proffered right-of-way, Full geotechnical investigation and testing will be required as part of this scope to analyze adequacy of existing pavement, slopes stability throughout, and all other design and structural features. |
