Description | Southwestern Community College - Burn Building Soil boring General Requirements: 1. Perform soil borings in accordance with ASTM D-1586 and document findings with detailed soil boring logs. Perform borings in the general locations specified by Architect. a. For sites where approximate final grades are known, perform detailed soil boring logs to a depth of at least 15' below proposed building FFE and 5' feet below utility excavations and design grade. 2. Determine and document seasonal high water table elevations at boring locations. 3. Detailed Boring Logs and Soil Profiles including: a. Approx. ground elevation b. Depth of topsoil c. Sample and soil horizon depths and elevations d. Soil descriptions (including USCS classifications) e. Groundwater levels at the time of boring and at 24-hours f. Standard penetration (N) values 4. Soil boring map keyed to the soil boring log. 5. Laboratory test results of Atterberg limits, natural moisture content and California Bearing Test (CBR). 6. Standard proctor test results. 7. Site and regional geography description. 8. Opinion of on-site soil suitability for fill. 9. Recommended site preparation. 10. Recommendation procedures for soil and rock excavations. 11. Fill placement, compaction and moisture content recommendations 12. Discussion of site conditions which could result in construction delays or additional costs. 13. Slope stability recommendations. 14. Building foundation and floor slab recommendations. 15. Soil bearing capacities. 16. Settlement potential. 17. Asphalt and concrete pavement design recommendations. 18. Opinion of rock and unsuitable soil quantities to be excavated for proposed construction. 19. Review of site earthwork specifications. |
