Description | The project includes modifications to existing Building 320 to allow for the installation of a new hangar door on the eastern side of the building at the Myrtle Beach International Airport. In order to provide aircraft access to the new hangar door, a new taxilane (3” bituminous pavement over 8” of aggregate base course) will be constructed from the southwest corner of the existing GA Apron to a paved area located on the eastern side of Building 320. Part of the existing pavement on the northern side of the building which is served as the existing parking lot needs to be demolished. Also, all the existing paved area on the eastern side of the building will be demolished and a new aircraft apron (3” bituminous pavement over 8” of aggregate base course) will be constructed to allow access at the building finished floor elevation. Construction of the new taxilane will require a portion of the existing fence to be removed. A new 8’ airport security chain link fence will be installed to close the AOA near the existing automobile parking lot. The project also includes demolition of portion of the existing entrance road from Shine Avenue to the existing entrance gate in order to build a new access road (3” bituminous pavement over 8” of aggregate base course). This will be bid as a bid-alternate. The project includes hangar door construction, pavement removal, excavation and subgrade preparation, installation of underdrains and outfall pipes, construction of a bituminous apron (bituminous on crushed aggregate base course), construction of bituminous taxilane pavement, construction of bituminous access road pavement (bidalternate), erosion control, pavement marking, installation of drainage pipe, and other miscellaneous items. The project site will be accessed by using an existing gate located off Shine Avenue. |
