Elms Beach Park Improvements - RP-1601 - St. Mary's County

Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Lexington Park, Maryland. Conceptual plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; and for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field. This project addresses needed facility improvements at Elms Beach Park. This is the County's most heavily used waterfront park and is sometimes closed to additional visitors when overcrowding occurs on summer weekends and holidays. The master plan recommendations for the park includes: upgrade facilities that are at the end of their life cycle; optimize and delineate parking; improve access to the Chesapeake Bay; install new playground; improve the park entry and provide for crowd control; provide ADA accessible paths to facilities; provide a composting toilet system; a well for drinking water; and provide gathering spaces for individuals and families. Funding in FY2016 was used to develop the park master plan, design and engineering in FY2020 and construction in FY2021 and FY2022. As of June 20, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2023-2028 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2023. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2023. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
