Description

Install new fire alarm system (equipment and devices) throughout nine storied occupied building. Provide functional operation and acceptance testing of the fire alarm system. After the new system has been accepted, Contractor shall remove all existing fire alarm devices, wire, surface raceways exposed in finished areas and hallways. To allow the University to evaluate bidders, each bidder must submit with its bid, a Contractors Special Statement of Experience. This Contractors Special Statement of Experience must be provided on the Contractors letterhead. If your firm provides inaccurate or incomplete information your firm will be found non-responsive. If your firm receives negative project references they may be found non-responsive. To be eligible for consideration of award, the Contractors Special Statement of Experience must include: 1. Documentation that the bidder has successfully completed the following: a. A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of five (5) comparable fire alarm projects with a construction value of $1,375,000 or greater, completed in the past 5 years that demonstrate the bidders ability to successfully complete the project with respect to project size, cost, use, complexity, etc. DO NOT include projects currently under construction. a. All submitted projects must be within the immediate nine Bay Area counties. 2. Include the following for each project: (a) project name, (b) project address, (c) owners name, (d) contract value at award, (e) total Change Order value, (f) completion date, (g) Owners Representative email address and current phone number and (h) brief scope. 3. All fire alarm projects on all UC Campuses and National Labs (LBNL, LLNL) within the last 5 years Original Bid Bond Must Be Received Within 48 Hours of Bid Deadline at: Capital Projects, University of California, Berkeley, 1936 University Avenue, Rm 222, Berkeley, Ca 94704. Prospective bidders arriving late after the published start time, will not be allowed to participate in the Site Tour. Only bidders who participate in the Pre-Bid Conference and Site Tour in its entirety, will be allowed to bid on the Project as prime contractors. Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within the limits imposed by law or University policy. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code. No contractor or subcontractor, regardless of tier, may be listed on a Bid for, or engage in the performance of, any portion of this project, unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 and 1771.1. This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations. The successful Bidder shall pay all persons providing construction services and/or any labor on site, including any University location, no less than the UC Fair Wage (defined as $13 per hour as of 10/1/15, $14 per hour as of 10/1/16, and $15 per hour as of 10/1/17) and shall comply with all applicable federal, state and local working condition requirements.
