Description | The City of Vestavia Hills is requesting bids to maintain all athletic field surfaces (also referred to as “inside the fences”). The City requests the following at a minimum: All surfaces shall be free of all weeds All surfaces shall not have any uneven play areas. Grade differentials between the skinned infield and surrounding grass areas and warning track will be eliminated and have a clean turf edge on the same grade as infield. * Infield Mix on skinned areas: Clean, dry clay mixed with washed mason-type sand resulting in a weed-free mixture that is reddish brown in color having a yield of 1.35 tons per cubic yard and possessing the following particle size analysis: a. Total sand content shall be 70-75 percent. b. The combined amount of sand retained on the medium, coarse and very coarse sieves shall be greater than 50 percent. c. The combined amount of silt and clay shall be 25-30 percent. d. The ratio of silt divided by clay, otherwise known as the SCR, shall be 0.5 – 1.0. e. No particles greater than 3 millimeters. f. Equal to or less than 5 percent of particles shall be retained on the 2 millimeter. * This is a sandy recreational mix. The silt/clay content can be increased depending on the existing material 65-69 (sand)/31-35 (silt/clay) Preparation of Fields on a day-to-day basis for practices and games to include all materials related to painting and/or chalking the fields as needed. Ability to prepare fields on short notice following weather events On days when there are more than 2 games on a field for diamond sports, fields must be prepared again following the 2nd game and after each additional 2 games as time allows on the schedule. Maintenance of the synthetic turf to the industry standard at SHAC Identifying and complete, continuous control and/or eradication of all fungus, insects, rodents, and any other diseases. Overseeding of all grass fields on an annual basis Aerification of all grass fields a minimum of 1 time annually Routine maintenance of the irrigation systems on the fields, to include troubleshooting and routine replacement/repairs of the system. Maintenance of the bases, pitching rubbers, and home plates, to include replacing as necessary The lights, fences and gates will remain the responsibility of the City. |
