Capitol Skylight Replacement and Stained Glass Reinstallation

A timeline for award has not yet been established.** Capitol Skylight Replacement and Stained Glass Reinstallation Project Scope The Office of Legislative Management on behalf of the Connecticut General Assembly is soliciting proposals is seeking Bids to provide all labor, materials, tools, and equipment necessary for: 1) the general construction, reinforcement, and replacement of existing metal framed skylights; 2) the restoration of two existing stained glass laylight frames; and 3) the reinstallation of stained glass lay lights. The project scope will include demolition, general construction work, site improvements, new building construction, interior construction, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work, and all other work necessary for or incidental to the completion of the project located in the State Capitol at 210 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT as per the specifications prepared by Crosskey Architects, LLC, 750 Main Street, Suite 150, Hartford, CT 06103. The following is the anticipated Scope of Work that the State expects to include in the contract with the selected respondent. B.1.1 Work Upon contract award, the awarded respondent shall provide the following work at a fixed price/unit price per Attachment A in accordance with specifications in Attachment H: a. Provide all labor, materials, equipment, services, and incidentals necessary; b. Submit all required documentation and other submittals required to be submitted prior to the start of work; c. The awarded Respondent shall protect the floor below the scaffolding; d. Furnish and install Interior and Exterior Staging & Site Safety Measures; e. Fencing: Prior to the commencement of work, the selected Contractor will as part of the scope of services install a construction fence on the boundaries of the site. The fence will be 72 inches tall, 11 gauge with 2- inch mesh. The Contractor will install a twelve-foot working gate on the driveway curb cut. This gate will be locked each day at the close of business and at any time that work is not ongoing on the site. f. Provide and assemble scaffolding in accordance with the specifications; g. The awarded Respondent is required to protect the Capitol walls that may come in contact with the scaffolding. Any damage to the walls of the Capitol due to the scaffolding will be deemed the responsibility of the awarded Respondent if responsible for the damage. The awarded Respondent shall be liable for the cost incurred by the CGA to make such repairs. As such, the awarded Respondent shall utilize every precaution to avoid any damage to the Capitol walls including scratches in the paints or dents in the plaster walls; h. After the scaffolding is installed, it will be inspected by the structural engineer who will approve it as safe for use; i. Allowances: The abatement of lead paint/ contaminated components will be performed by the General Contractor. Workers will require protection when completing the general interior demolition of the properties. An Allowance for testing and inspections ($5,000) and lead abatement ($10,000) are to be provided along with the bid. Each allowance includes all equipment, tools, labor, permits, fees, overhead and profit, etc. incidental to completion of the work involved and the disposal of surplus or unsuitable material in accordance with the Plans and Specifications or as directed by the Architect. The CGA will complete the abatement of asbestos, if found. j. Demolish existing skylight rafters, gutter tracks, glazing, flashing, rafter caps, vents and miscellaneous brackets, nuts, washers, bolts, sealants, compressible fillers, etc. k. Furnish & install two new 22' x 37'-6" extended pyramid glass skylights, basis of design: WASCO skylights Pinnacle 900 system. 900 System 900 PYHG Kynar/baked enamel finish to be aged copper/ Quaker bronze. System to receive laminated glazing. l. Furnish & install new structural reinforcing for the existing lay light framing structure. m. Reinstall the removed longitudinal bars between the steel bars that remained in place when the laylights were taken down n. Move the crates containing the laylights from the designated storage area within the State Capitol building; o. Uncrate and reinstall the laylights in accordance with the layout documentation noting that the laylights will need to be reinstalled from below; p. During the reinstallation of the stained glass laylights new laminated, tempered glass will be installed beneath the restored laylights; q. Repaint the interior atrium side walls. r. Maintain and submit daily logs via mutually agreed upon project management software; s. Upon completion, disassemble and remove all interior & exterior staging, scaffolding & safety measures from the work area. t.
