| Description | The plant has two boiler feedwater pumps each having a recirculation valve. The recirculation valve returns water to the dearator tank in order to maintain the minimum flow required through the boiler feedwater pump. One pump is normally in operation at a time. Low load operation has resulted in increased wear on the feedwater recirculation valves. When the unit was operated between 70 and 110 MW, the valves controlled flow during start up and were shut during normal operation. Now that the unit is operated at lower loads, the valves modulate most of the time. The flow with the existing valves is also unstable at low loads. |
