Description | The Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs is accepting quotes for carillon bell tower refurbishment at Crownsville State Veterans Cemetery. The work in this contract consists of the refurbishment of the carillon bell tower. The carillon bell tower is approximately 50 feet high (Steel Structure) with a 12-foot square base. Refurbishment includes : Sandblast the entire carillon bell tower to remove all old paint and rust, in preparation for painting. The contractor shall be responsible for protecting the carillon speakers and wiring, located at the top of the carillon bell tower while performing the necessary work to refurbish the carillon bell tower. The speakers are excluded and will not be painted or refurbished. Blast clean according to SSPC-SP 6/NACE No. 3, Commercial Blast Cleaning or small areas with SP11 Needle Gun to Bare Metal to remove all visible oil, grease, dust, dirt, mill scale, rust, coating, oxides, corrosion, and any other foreign surface matter. Provide a temporary Containment Structure during the exterior cleaning, blasting, and coating operations. The Contractor shall install, operate, and maintain the containment system designed to contain all water spray, blasting debris, and airborne paint within the confines of the Bell Tower site. The containment system shall be 360 degrees around the Bell Tower Structure and must be capable of capturing 95% of all airborne debris generated at all times during cleaning and coating operations. The containment shall be open mesh material with opacity required to contain water, paint, and blasting debris. The containment shall be installed such that minimal loads are transmitted to the Bell Tower structure. No part of the containment system shall be used to support rigging equipment, safety lines, or other devices used by painters, inspectors, or other personnel. The entire containment system shall be completely removed at the end of the project. A Virtual Pre-Bid will not be held. The base period of performance shall be for six (6) weeks beginning on the final date of signature on the fully executed Contract, in accordance with all terms, conditions, and specifications in the contract. |
