RFQ - Math and Physical Master Plan

The Berkeley Campus of the University of California is seeking a planner and architect ("Consultant") to perform programming, site evaluation/selection, and other support services as required by the Professional; Services Agreement (PSA) for the Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS) in the UC Berkeley College of Letters & Science. The project goal is to create a long term plan that addresses the departments' medium and long term spatial and infrastructure needs. The Math Department currently operates out of Evans Hall, but will be relocating to University Hall in Summer 2024. This is seen as a medium-term move (5-10 years) in order to vacate seismically challenged space in Evans. No change in GSF assigned will be made during this move. The Physics Department occupies 133,035 assignable square feet in four buildings: Birge Hall (built in 1964), Campbell Hall (built in 2014), Physics Building North (built in 1950) and Physics Building South (built in 1922). The University is exploring the potential to build a new building dedicated to meeting MPS's long-term needs. The Math and Physics Master Plan aims to develop a vision that catalogues the diverse needs of the program and coordinates the implementation of the plan. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this time.
