Veterans Memorial Cemetery Columbaria and Stream Filter System

The cemetery facility was first opened on September 4, 2002. Since that time, an approved Capital Construction Request in FY 2014-15 ($4,564,922 state funds) was used, in part, to construct four (4) new columbaria and replace the loop drive. Based on historical records, the VA Cemetery will fill up all available niches and be out of columbaria space around April 1, 2021. Each columbarium, with approx. 168 niches, reaches capacity within approximately eighteen months. Constructing six (6) new columbaria (4 single sided and 2 double sided) is anticipated to provide niche capacity for an additional twelve years, until the year 2033. To date, 61% of all interments have utilized the above ground columbaria niches.
