Description

The City of Akron is requesting qualifications for Professional Construction Management services for the Northside Interceptor Tunnel (NSIT) and the two related projects (Lower Northside Interceptor Lining and Riverside Sewer Separation (CSO Rack 34)). Questions Due Date: Oct 12th 2022, 11:00 AM EDT 1 ) The Lower Northside Interceptor Lining project consists of adding six manholes and lining approximately 6,400 feet of an existing combined sewer interceptor (Northside Interceptor) that services the North Hill area of the City of Akron. The work includes sewer cleaning and television inspection, by-pass pumping, cured-in-place pipe lining, and manhole rehabilitation. Approximate Construction Award Date: October 2022 Approximate Construction Duration: 8 months 2) Riverside Sewer Separation (CSC Rack 34) is a combined sewer separation project with construction of a new storm sewer system and the re-purposing of the existing combined sewer to convey separate sanitary sewer flow in the North Hill area (Rack 34) of the City of Akron. It consists of the installation of 10,039 feet of storm sewer, 57 manholes, and 77 new catch basins. It also includes the replacement of 345 feet of lead water service lines; curb to curb pavement restoration; and lining approximately 3,832 feet of existing combined sewer, which is all being re-purposed to convey sanitary sewer flow. Approximate Construction Award Date: December 2022 Approximate Construction Duration: 2.0 years 3) The Northside Interceptor Tunnel project consists of constructing 6,652 feet of a 16.5-foot internal diameter mainline tunnel, beginning at the Chuckey Area of the Cascade Valley Metro Park, generally following Riverside Drive, and terminating near the Front Street bridge. The project will include constructing 2,400 feet of a 96" internal diameter tunnel, traversing through a wooded area of the Chuckery Area. The project includes the construction of three baffle drop shafts ranging from internal diameters of 30 to 40 feet, and depths from 50 to 120 feet. The project will also include the construction of two drill drop shafts, that will be 150 feet and 166 feet deep, with associated adits that will connect to the tunnel. Near surface sewers and diversion structures will be constructed to connect existing sewer systems to the new system. 4) A Tunnel Diversion Structure will include a 65-foot internal diameter with a 40-foot internal diameter baffle drop centered in the structure for the tunnel overflow. A Tunnel Overflow Conduit will consist of 441 feetoftwin 90-inch pipes constructed using Sequential Excavation Method and connected to an Energy Dissipating Structure at the Cuyahoga River. Other elements of the Northside Interceptor Tunnel project will include construction of a control building, valve vaults, meter vaults and river restoration. Approximate Construction Award Date: July 2023 Approximate Construction Duration: 3.5 years (AFO is December 31, 2026) WBE (3%), DBE (18%)
