Description | All labor, materials, tools and other equipment, services and supervision required to complete all interior surface preparation and repainting work to the full extent of the specifications. Work under this Contract shall also include, but not necessarily be limited to: 1. Moisture testing of substrates. 2. Surface preparation of substrates as required for acceptance of paint, including cleaning, small crack repair, hole patching (up to 0.25 inch diameter, patching, caulking, and making good surfaces and areas to the limits defined under MPI Repainting Manual Preparation requirements. Refinish surface textures over repair and patch work to match the existing. 3. Specific pre-treatments noted herein or specified in the MPI Repainting Manual. 4. Sealing / priming surfaces for repainting in accordance with MPI Repainting Manual requirements. 5. Provision of safe and adequate ventilation as required over and above temporary ventilation supplied by others, where toxic and/or volatile / flammable materials are being used. 6. The Painting Contractor shall be capable of patching all wall surfaces, or if not capable, he will contract with qualified Subcontractor(s) for the repair of the damaged substrates he encounters and is not capable of repairing. Cost of Subcontractor work, if any, shall be included in the bid price. 7. Repair of existing painted substrates to receive new paint work: Inspect building for damage to walls and record damage in need of replacement and repair. Patch damaged surfaces to have a “like new” appearance prior to application of paint. For damaged gypsum board surfaces, repair surfaces to comply with ASTM C840 - “Application and Finishing of Gypsum Wallboard”. If necessary to have a smooth surface, replace gypsum board and tape and refloat new gypsum board into existing gypsum board. |
