RFP D/B - Fiber Route in the Oakland Table Rock Area

The scope of construction will begin at the County’s network operations center (NOC) at the Dennett Road Facility at 770 Dennett Road in Oakland, Maryland, which is a colocation site with both MdDoIT and Maryland Broadband Cooperative (MdBC) fiber. From the NOC, new fiber would be overlashed aerially on existing MdDoIT fiber from the NOC/Dennett Elementary School on Dennett Road, along Route 219, down to a state highway site just off Weber Road at 95 Sha Drive in Oakland. The new fiber construction would continue along Route 219, crossing over the Little Youghiogheny River and train tracks to continue south on Route 219 to the Table Rock SHA Communications Tower site at 4675 George Washington Highway (U.S. Route 50). Between Oakland and the tower, service drops would be extended to connect the old “Sears” building at 89 Pleasant Hill Drive and Swan Meadow School at 6709 Garrett Highway (Route 219). From Table Rock Tower, the new fiber will continue south on Table Rock Road to Mettiki’s northern site in Oakland. From there, the fiber will be interconnected to existing fiber at Metikki’s southern site on Table Rock Road. New fiber will continue the path from Mettiki south to Savage Services on 354 Table Rock Road in Oakland. Drops would also be extended to an estimated 20 farms and businesses along the route.
