Description | Parks Recreation and Open Spaces manages the Charles Deering Estate at Cutler for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection through the Division of State Lands. The Deering Estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places Improvements to include: Stone (existing courtyard stone to be carefully removed and stored to be reinstalled later); slight expansion of the courtyard stone area to match existing stone; new foundations for special events tent tie-downs; New proposed drainage system at courtyard areas. Regrade the courtyard, to create positive drainage towards new proposed drainage system at courtyard areas; Add supplementary drain piping and catch basins to accommodate appropriate removal of water runoff; storm sewer drainage system; landscaping; tree relocation; additional irrigation; waterproofing of existing walls; interior historical repairs at Richmond Cottage Kitchen (including but not limited to removal, restoration, and reinstallation of existing wood floors); Create a sustainable foundation, floor framing for Richmond kitchen floor; new concrete slab; encasement of utilities under kitchen floorboards; basement restoration; Create a new green roof system for the underground spaces below the courtyard; Provide new water proofing membranes at basement walls below courtyard area; basement waterproofing; and restoration of existing water damaged areas. Repair water intrusion damages at basement walls and ceilings, etc. 2. Contractor is made aware that this project is a Historic Building which requires existing finish materials to remain and can only be removed and restored with prior approval of Miami Dade County’s Office of Historic Preservation, as indicated in the approved Contract Documents. The existing kitchen floor restoration work includes the installation of a new concrete slab on compacted fill intended to provide longevity of the restored historic wood finish floor. Contractor shall inspect and be familiar with the existing kitchen configuration, finishes, millwork, equipment, appliances, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical that are to remain or temporarily removed and stored and then re-installed in order to facilitate the floor finish restoration work. This includes but is not limited to all utilities, millwork, plumbing lines and fixtures, electrical lines and fixtures, and kitchen appliances. Contractor shall provide engineering, shop drawings permits, and pay all related fees necessary to facilitate the protection, modification, and re-installation of all systems in order to maintain the current function and configuration of the kitchen. |
