Requests may be submitted via e-mail to: zglick@cityofsantamaria.org. The Design Engineer has calculated an estimate of probable construction costs for this project. The City does not wish to publicize the engineer's estimate of the project cost since this information may tend to influence the number and nature of bids received. However, for the bidder's convenience, the City will publicize that the engineer's estimate for the base bid falls within a range of $1,800,000 and $2,400,000. Bids shall be executed on the forms provided in the book of bidding documents and in accordance with the instructions contained therein. A separate, unbound, set of bid forms are provided for the bidder's convenience. Bid security, in an amount not less than 10 percent (10%) of the total bid dollar amount, is required to be submitted with each bid. The bid security shall be in the form of a bidder's bond or a certified or cashier's check drawn upon a responsible bank made payable to the City of Santa Maria, and conditioned to be forfeited to said City in the event that the bidder, if the bid is accepted, does not enter into a written contract within ten (10) days after the awarding of the contract. The bidder to whom award is made will be required to furnish a payment bond and a faithful performance bond. As required under Contractor's License in the Instructions to Bidders of the bidding documents, bidders shall be licensed as a Class "A" General Engineering Contractor. Pursuant to Section 1770, and the following, of the California Labor Code, the successful bidder shall pay not less than the prevailing rate of per diem wages as determined by the Director of the California Department of Industrial Relations.
