Description | The City of Glendale is seeking a qualified professional firm to provide design, preliminary cost estimating, permit approvals, and construction administration services to modernize the trailheads and associated facilities at the City of Glendale Thunderbird Conservation Park. The Thunderbird Conservation Park is 1,185 acres, located in the Hedgpeth Hills in north Glendale, Arizona. The park is dedicated to preserving the desert environment and offers activities that include picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, jogging, and bird watching. The park includes approximately 15-miles of multiuse trails, parking lots, ramadas, and restrooms. There are three trailheads/entrances to the park. The main trail/headentrance is off of 59th Avenue (22600 North 59th Avenue), another on Pinnacle Peak Road at 55th Avenue (5486 W. Pinnacle Peak Road), and the third off of 67th Avenue at Patrick Lane. The trails and access roads branch from these trailheads into the park. The City Parks and Recreation Master Plan was updated this year, 2021. Goals and objectives considered for this project include: improve access to the park by prioritizing improvements to the trailheads and infrastructure, develop an environmental education program, revegetate native desert areas, revitalize the existing amphitheater into a desert botanical garden, update or replace existing facilities (e.g., restrooms, shade structures, trailheads, etc.), provide trail, historic, and environmental interpretive signs, and fund a trail maintenance program. Questions pertaining to the RFP or selection process should be directed in writing to the Engineering Department, City of Glendale, 5850 West Glendale Avenue, Glendale, AZ 85301, or by email to EngineeringDept@glendaleaz.com. The current budget for this project is approximately $5M The Method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time. |
