Any questions shall be directed to Ben Crayner ofHWC Engineering by email only at bcrayner@hwcengineering.com. The deadline for questions is Wednesday, February 22nd at 10:00 am. 1. Perform shoulder grading throughout the project limits along both edges of roadway. All scope details described below and the cost of any other associated items such as the required excavation/grading, legal disposal, and BMP's shall be considered incidental to the other pay items provided in the Schedule of Values. Coordinate operations with Engineer and Owner. Straight-line edges of roadway to better define traveled way and expose full limits of existing roadway. Grade earth shoulders to ensure stormwater drains off of roadway after proposed paving is completed, but to not leave a drop-off at the edge of the road. Properly clean roadway and legally dispose of any excavated materials, debris, etc. All required restoration work including regrading, placement of topsoil, seeding, etc., shall be considered incidental to the cost of the Linear Grading Pay Item.2 Perform machine milling to properly transition the HMA overlay with the existing conditions in accordance with INDOT Standard Specifications, Section 306. An estimated quantity of milling has been included in the Schedule of Values. Coordinate operations and transition limits with Engineer and Owner. a. Transition milling shall be done at all ends, except where the segments connect to each other. b. All approaches (streets, drives, etc.) are to be milled accordingly to provide an acceptable transition. Deliver millings to Owner and mechanically clean pavement prior to paving. Confirm patching locations and depths with the Engineer and Owner and complete in accordance with INDOT Standard Specifications, Section 304. Perform HMA patching consisting of a 4" minimum depth (or match existing, whichever is greater) of HMA 25mm Base Type B as shown on the typical patching detail above. Estimated quantities have been provided in the Schedule of Values. Excavated patch areas are to be thoroughly cleaned of any loose debris and then asphalt for tack coat applied to all surfaces prior to being filled with HMA. Any patching locations shown on the corresponding aerial plan sheets are merely as a guide to confirmed areas requiring patching. Limits shown are approximate and locations shown are not to be assumed all-inclusive. There will also be additional locations of general patching throughout the Sub-projects. Coordinate with Engineer and Owner. Furnish and apply Tack Coat (minimum rate of 0.06 gal/syd) according to INDOT Standard Specifications, Section 406. Furnish and place HMA Wedge and Level, Type B according to INDOT Standard Specifications, Section 402 to build structure and ensure stormwater drainage of street segment. a. Where Wedge and Level is installed, it is to be completed making sure that there is no drop-off at the edge of the paving limits. Furnish and place 1.5" of compacted depth HMA 9.5mm Surface Type B according to INDOT Standard Specifications, Section 402. This pay item will also be used as HMA surface at public road approaches, as shown on corresponding aerial plan sheets, furnished and placed in accordance with INDOT Standard Specifications, Section 610. The HMA 9.5mm Surface Type B shall be placed on top of the existing pavement. Tack Coat is required between existing surface and new HMA 9.5mm Surface, Type B. All public approaches and drives are to be milled, or graded as needed for aggregate approaches, accordingly, to provide an acceptable transition. All intersecting public road approaches are to be paved a minimum of 15' from the edge of mainline pavement, regardless of transitioning required, unless otherwise noted. d. A minimum depth of 165 #/syd is required for HMA transition areas. Curb, Concrete, is to be installed, and shall be according to Standard Specifications, Section 605. Curb, Concrete removal is considered incidental to this pay item. a. Wherever curb is installed, the potential void remaining between the newly placed curb and the adjacent pavement is to be properly filled with Class A concrete. This void should be excavated to the depth of the curb or the existing pavement, whichever is greater, and thoroughly cleaned of any loose debris prior to filling. The Class A concrete shall be properly vibrated and placed to within 1.5" of the existing pavement surface. The remaining 1.5" shall then be paved with HMA Surface prior to the HMA overlay. All associated costs to accomplish this shall be included in the cost of the Curb, Concrete Pay Items. b. All required restoration work including regrading, placement of topsoil, seeding, etc., shall be considered incidental to the cost of the Curb, Concrete, Modified Pay Item.
