Antenna Tower & Shelter Establishment

Furnish & install a new, four sided, self-supported type tower designed and constructed to meet or exceed the design parameters and requirements of these specifications, including work platform with stairway access and all fall protection items as required by OSHA and other state governing agencies (guardrails, toe-boards, etc.). The work platform shall be 50 feet above finished grade, have 24 feet minimum sides (tower support structure may have different side widths as per Contractor's approved design) and support 23 antenna mounts with 8 LF minimum separation between all. The tower shall include lightning protection (air terminals, down conductors and counterpoise), obstruction light and junction boxes (JB). Furnish and construct a supporting foundation for the new tower in the location indicated on the drawings and attachments and as required to meet or exceed all loads that will be imposed upon it from the new tower and the associated equipment and appurtenances that will be mounted on it. Refer to the Foundation Section of these specifications for information pertaining to the required use of a drilled pier type foundation for the tower leg supports. Furnish and construct a new 26’x46’ concrete masonry unit type RTR equipment building, including foundation, lighting, HVAC, JBs, cable tray, square duct, ground plates and grounding and lightning protection (air terminals, down conductors and counterpoise). Furnish and construct a supporting foundation for the equipment building in the location indicated on the drawings and attachments and as required to meet or exceed all loads that will be imposed on it. Furnish and construct pervious concrete and asphalt patching in areas of existing pavement removal and all necessary site improvements. Furnish and install power cables for the tower obstruction light, tower platform convenience outlet and stair bottom landing light from the equipment building power panel. Obstruction light must be operational by dusk of day the tower is erected. Furnish and install multipoint, single point, main and supplemental ground plates in the equipment building. Connect the ground plates to the equipment building counterpoise. Furnish and install 8’ perimeter security fence with two 16’ cantilever sliding gates and grounding. Furnish and install a weatherproof-while-in-use ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlet near the platform JBs including all associated cabling, conduit, etc. Furnish and install electric service infrastructure to establish building electric service. Coordinate electric service establishment and requirements with ComEd and CDA. Construct site improvements. Furnish and install two handholes. Furnish and install duct banks from the Equipment Building to the handholes and from the handholes to existing manholes. Furnish, install, terminate and test fiber optic field cable in new and existing duct bank from RTR to ATCT. Furnish, install, terminate and test fiber optic field cables in new and existing duct bank from RTR to 4R Glide Slope. Furnish, install, terminate and test copper field cable in new and existing duct bank from RTR to ATCT.
