Description | The owner has selected the Construction Managers. Start date will be today. Request for Proposals for Construction Manager at Risk for 2022 Bond Projects. - Project #1 - Replacement Dunbar Early Education Center on site TBD Total Construction Budget: $32,178,000 Proposals must conform to specifications and will not be returned. Project address: The current Dunbar school will remain in operation throughout the construction of the new school on a site yet to be determined. o Scope of Work: 80,000 square feet o 600 student capacity o Approximately 36 classrooms o "Immersive PreK" education model o Each room has a theme, outfitted with museum quality exhibits, to highlight a specific section of the curriculum. For instance, a "Polar" room would contain a full-size model of a polar bear, igloo building blocks, plush penguin toys, etc. As the year progresses, the children rotate through all the experiences. The model utilizes "hands on" learning to expand children's experiences, vocabulary, and build a solid foundation for success in school and life, o A separate exhibit company will be contracted directly with TISD to design, construct, and install all exhibits, and close coordination will be required with the CMAR for scheduling, access, rough in, etc. o There will be a school-grade commercial kitchen on site, but no cafeteria. Children eat in the areas they are in rotation. o In addition to classrooms, there will be common areas, office spaces, as well as a community room for outside groups and the public. o Storm Shelter Requirements will be in place. Site is not yet selected, but will include outdoor learning areas, multiple drop-off locations, fire lanes, parking, and landscaping. Mechanical Scope o It is anticipated that this campus will utilize split Dx type units for heating and cooling. Total Construction Budget: $32,178,000 |
