Description

As of March 22, 2023, an architect has been selected and this project is in the design phase. A firm timeline for construction has not been determined. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: This project consists of renovations to three buildings, Ruffin Pleasant Hall East Annex (14,271 s.f.), Dalrymple Memorial Building (14,750 s.f.) and either the Military Science Building (38,250 s.f.) or Jesse Coates Hall (48,459 s.f.) in order to relocate occupants and allow for demolition of other buildings. The renovation of Ruffin Pleasant Hall East Annex consists of complete interior renovations as well as exterior improvements. It will also include abatement, architectural and MEP work to house a Media Lab and a Public Policy lab. The Dalrymple Building will also be a complete renovation of the interior and exterior improvements and includes subsequent build-out to house occupants relocated from other buildings. The renovations to either the Military Science Building or Jesse Coates Hall will be limited to interior renovations to accommodate relocated electrical engineering students and faculty. The second phase of this project involves the complete demolition of the Electrical Engineering Building (41,500 s.f.), the Manship School Research Facility (15,500 s.f.), the Veterinary Science Annex (2,160 s.f.), the Veterinary Science Parasite Building (3,264 s.f.) and the Veterinary Science Poultry Isolation Building (2,504 s.f.). The demolition of these buildings includes hazard abatement, removal of slab, capping of utilities and final grading of the site. Designer shall be responsible for all associated environmental remediation including, arranging for sample testing of suspect hazardous materials, making third party sampling, testing and air monitoring will be a reimbursable expense. Design services and fees are based on, and limited to, Program Completion through Construction Documents (60%). At the owners option, the contract may be amended to include additional phases with the corresponding fee and time adjustment. The Designer shall prepare and submit all required drawings to Facility Planning & Control in AutoCAD and hard copy. Drawings shall follow the format specified in the Instructions to Designers for AutoCAD Drawings Submittal. The available funds for construction (AFC) are approximately $12,840,775.00 with a fee of approximately $529,436.00. Contract design time is 400 consecutive calendar days; including 133 days review time. Thereafter, liquidated damages in the amount of $200.00 per day will be assessed.
