Description | Move the new safety valve from the Owner’s turbine bay to the existing safety valve platform in the Owner’s boiler room. Remove one (1) existing 20” Atwood-Morrill safety valve and install one (1) new safety valve provided by the Owner per TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS SRV 17 REPLACEMENT CUP LOW PRESSURE STEAM SYSTEM drawing set issued for construction (IFC) June 16, 2017 by Stanley Consultants. Estimated weight existing 20” Atwood-Morrill safety valve = 2000 lb Estimated weight new safety valve = 2800 lb The new 20” flanges will likely need to be flat face because the existing safety valve has Class 125 flanges. Reuse existing 20” discharge piping. Remove 4” steel piping (painted red) from the backside of the existing 20” safety valve discharge piping. Demolish 4” piping all the way back to and including the safety valve suspended from an existing support. Cap the resulting 4” stub. Install 1” warm-up line around 24” gate valve using socket weld fittings, sockolets, schedule 80 piping, and 1” Class 800 globe valve with handle oriented for best ease of access. Pull back shall be achieved by the use of gap-o-lets. The warm-up shall be installed pipe to pipe. The gate valve shall not be modified. |
