Description

The City of Golden Valley has a population of approximately 21,520 and is 10.54 square miles in size. Golden Valley has 120 centerline miles of City streets and 9.7 centerline miles of County streets for a total of 129.7 centerline miles of public streets. The speed limit on the City’s local (neighborhood) streets is currently 30 miles per hour. The City Council is considering lowering it to 20 or 25 miles per hour and may do so before or within the term of this contract. The City has offered residential curbside recycling since 1987. The current contractor provides bi-weekly recycling collection with the City split into two collection districts The City has approximately 6,976 customers who are billed by the City under the City’s Residential Recycling Program with approximately 92% participation. Carted recycling collection is provided to the following customers: 6,864 single-family households (1-4 units) 109 multi-family dwellings (more than 4 units) 3 institutional accounts (total of 6 carts)
