West Main Street and Grant Street Culvert Replacements

Project 1 Description: The West Main Street Culvert Replacement project involves the removal of the existing 15’-10” wide by 43’-9” long 3-sided culvert and associated wingwalls over Monhagen Brook on West Main Street and the installation of a new 28’ wide by 44’ long 3-sided bridge and new wingwalls. Associated work includes widening the stream just upstream and downstream of the new wingwalls, relocation and/or replacement of the existing utilities, installation of 2 new catch basins, surface restoration, all together with any and all permitting, and appurtenances required to complete the project in accordance with the contract documents. Project 2 Description: The Grant Street Culvert Replacement project consists of a base bid and two add alternatives (add alt #1 and add alt #2). The base bid involves the removal of two existing culverts. The first is approximately 90 linear feet of a 5’ wide by 5’ high box culvert and second approximately 45 linear feet of a 7’ wide by 5’ high box culvert (the first culvert is located upstream of the second culvert). These two existing box culverts consist of varying material types (stone, brick, cast in place concrete, etc.) and have been repaired in the past with shotcrete. A new 7’ wide x 5’ high box culvert is proposed to replace both existing culverts. The base bid also includes the relocation and/or replacement of the existing utilities, removal of four existing catch basins installation of four new catch basins at different locations, surface restoration, all together with any and all permitting, and appurtenances required to complete the project in accordance with the contract documents. Add alternative #1 includes an additional 118 linear feet of removing the existing 7’ wide by 5’ high box culvert and replacing with a new 7’ wide x 5’ high box culvert. Add alternative #1 also included the surface restoration as shown on the contract drawings. Add alternative #2 includes debris removal and cleaning of 118 linear feet of the existing 7’ wide by 5’ high box culvert and lining the existing culvert with shotcrete.
