Description

At all times during the removal and replacement project the contractor will be responsible to protect all people, the building itself, and the exterior environment from falling objects and debris. The contractor will be responsible for the removal of all removed materials to an offsite landfill along with the associated costs as part of the project.. The contractor will be required to remove all layers of the existing roof down to the roof decking including all edging, ice and water barriers, etc. The contractor will then inspect the existing decking material and address any issues as necessary. If replacement of any existing decking material is required. That work will need to be coordinated with and approved by the City prior to the commencement of any related work. This work, if required, will be done on a change order on contract basis. The contractor will install new ice and water barrier at a minimum of six (6) feet across all eves of the building. Ice and water barrier will also be placed around all penetrations in the roof (chimneys, roof vents, etc.) as well as any valleys in the roof. Ice and water barrier will also be placed at all roof to building abutments. The contractor will also be required to place new flashing underneath any areas of existing siding at these locations. Any existing roof vents and flanges will be removed and replaced. In any locations where sealant is needed the contractor will be required to use a high performance sealant. The balance of the roof should be covered with Owens Corning ProArmor Synthetic Felt Paper or equivalent material. Around the perimeter of the roof the contract will be required to install new heavy gauge, baked enamel, steel drip edge. The roof itself will be made of aluminum sheeting and must be one continuous sheet from peak to eave. Along the lengths of roof the sheets should overlap at least three (3) inches. A ridge cap will be placed along the length peak and sealed as needed. Fasteners must be a minimum of #8 metal roofing screws with self-sealing neoprene washers to ensure a water tight seal. At the end of each day the contractor will ensure that the work zone is picked up of any debris and made safe to pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Prior to the job being finalized the contractor will be required to thoroughly clean the site of any construction debris including raking the grass areas and sweeping the site using a magnetic nail sweeper
