| Description | Emmet County is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to provide the County with historic restoration services at McGulpin Point Lighthouse. McGulpin Point Lighthouse was constructed from 1866-1869 as a navigational aid through the Straits of Mackinac and was in operation until 1906. The lighthouse is located on McGulpin Point (500 Headlands Rd, Mackinaw City, MI 49770), approximately three miles west of the Mackinac Bridge. Emmet County has owned the McGulpin Point Lighthouse & the historic site it sits upon since 2008. The lighthouse began operation in 1869 making it one of the oldest surviving lighthouses in the Straits; consequently, restoration services are needed to maintain the integrity for decades to come.
