Description | The construction work covered by these specifications shall include the furnishing of all materials, equipment, and labor to install a new 36" raw water main and a new 36" potable water main, together with such appurtenances as are shown on the plans and set forth in the proposal, except those specially stated as being furnished by the City of Appleton. Statements contained in these Special Provisions supersede any statements in the Sewer and Watermain Specifications with which there may be a conflict. City of Appleton Standard Specifications are available and can be downloaded off of the City of Appleton home page (http//www.appleton.org). This project will install a 36" raw water line from the City of Appleton Lake Station located at the north end of Lake Winnebago, north through the Hwy 10/114 intersection, north along Oneida Street to Natures Way. There will be approximately 2800 lineal feet of 36" raw water line installed. Cover on the pipe ranges from 5.5 vertical feet to 6.5 vertical feet. This new raw water line will tie into the existing 36" water line on Natures Way which will be converted from potable water to raw water. In addition, a new 36" potable water line will be constructed from the Water Filtration Plant north to Manitowoc Road, west on Manitowoc Road to Oneida Street where it will tie into the existing 42" water line in Oneida Street. Several 36" butterfly valves and air release maintenance holes will also be installed as part of this project. Dewatering is likely necessary due to the high water table throughout the project area. Plans show the water table at soil boring locations. |
