Description | Construction Project: The work includes drilling and installation of five water stops and incidental related work. In general, the contractor shall complete precision angle drilling within precise tolerances to inject a hydrophilic sealant into the upstream spillway monoliths at four locations in the overflow section and one location on the non-overflow section. The magnitude of construction is estimated to be between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000. The resulting contract will be firm-fixed-price. PROJECT DETAILS: The Government intends to solicit a Best Value for the subject requirement. The purpose of the Chief Joseph Dam, Upstream Spillway Monolith, Sealing is to drill and install five waterstops and other incidental related work. Four drilled waterstops are located at spillway monoliths joints 11/12, 15/16, 17/18, and 18/19 and shall be installed from the ogee. The spillway ogee crest is at elevation 901.5 feet (NGVD29). Normal reservoir elevations range from 950 to 956 feet (NGVD29). Water pressures within the drilled hole should be expected at a similar elevation as the reservoir. Work on the spillway ogee will require special construction access and a drilling platform. The fifth waterstop is located at closure monolith joint C2/3. All work at the closure monolith shall be completed from the roadway. Borehole deviation surveys during drilling shall be completed as specified to ensure the drilled hole meets required tolerances as shown on drawings.
